Avaya Agent for Desktop End of Sale (July 2026): Your Options

For years, Avaya Agent for Desktop (AAFD) has been the go-to solution for call centers requiring a combination of SIP and H.323 soft clients within their Avaya environments. However, that chapter is coming to a close.

Effective July 20, 2026, Avaya has announced that it will no longer sell or make AAFD (SIP and H.323) available for new system deployments.

What Is Avaya AAFD End of Sale?

Avaya’s announcement marks the official transition away from AAFD toward newer, fully supported platforms. Organizations still relying on AAFD—especially in mixed SIP and H.323 environments—will need to evaluate next steps.

Avaya AAFD Replacement Options

Avaya has outlined two primary paths forward:

  1. Move to SIP with Avaya Workplace – Avaya recommends transitioning to a full SIP environment using Avaya Workplace, where AAFD features have been carried forward.
  2. Migrate H.323 Users to J1xx Phones – For H.323 environments, users can migrate to J1xx series devices running H.323 firmware, or transition fully to SIP-based solutions.

Why This Matters

Delaying migration can lead to:

  • Unsupported environments
  • Compatibility issues with future updates
  • Increased operational risk

Planning early ensures a smoother transition and avoids last-minute disruptions.
